Are Hot Flashes Getting You Down?
If you are a healthy female experiencing several episodes of hot flashes per day, you may be interested in participating in a research study being conducted by the Billings Clinic Research Center testing the safety and efficacy of an investigational medication to reduce the frequency and severity of hot flashes. All study-related examinations and medication are free of cost. You may even be paid for your participation.
Patient Inclusion Criteria
Participants must be between 18-70 years of age and have been postmenopausal for at least six months or surgically sterile (bilateral oophorectomy with or without hysterectomy) for at least six weeks. Participants using hormone replacement therapy (HRT) must be willing to discontinue treatment and must be experiencing at least 7 moderate to severe hot flashes per day.
Patient Exclusion Criteria
Participants must not have been treated with estrogen pellets or injectable progestin drug therapy within six months; have severe chronic diarrhea, chronic constipation, uncontrolled irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or unexplained weight loss. Persons with hypersensitivity to gabapentin are excluded from participation.
