Center Overview

Springfield Clinic is one of the largest multi-specialty physician groups located in Central Illinois, with 50 locations throughout a 16 county region. The Clinic’s medical staff encompasses over 225 board-certified physicians, practicing in 40 different specialties, and over 110 mid-level providers, with a broad range of training and expertise.

Clinical Research Experience

With more than 100 years of combined experience in clinical trials and a patient population of over 1 million, our investigators and staff are dedicated to conducting “Cutting Edge Research for Tomorrow’s Medicine.” Since being centralized in 2003, the Clinical Research Department has coordinated all research endeavors at the Clinic having completed over 350 studies (Phase I-IV) with more than 100 different sponsors. The Department is currently staffed with a Director of Clinical Research, who is supported by a Clinical Research Manager, Study Coordinators, a Clinical Recruitment Coordinator, and a Regulatory Specialist.

Research staff members are trained on ICH/GCP guidelines, HIPAA, and the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). Certifications include: Collaborative IRB Training Initiative (CITI), International Air Transport Association (IATA) training, and Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP). The Clinical Research Department and its physician investigators have interest and experience in conducting trials for indications such as asthma, COPD, urticaria, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, infectious diseases (complicated skin and skin structure infections, hepatitis C, sepsis syndrome, fungal infections, diabetic foot infections, pneumonia, Clostridium Difficile), herpes zoster/shingles, breast cancer, prostate cancer, lung cancer, head and neck cancer, atrial fibrillation, erectile dysfunction, overactive bladder, , diabetes mellitus, psoriasis, actinic keratoses, women’s health issues, macular degeneration, cataracts, glaucoma, joint implants, breast implants, and occupational health issues. New investigative areas are continually being considered and added.

Facility Description

Our state-of-the-art center is experienced with conducting both inpatient and outpatient trials. Springfield Clinic is accredited by Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), having received the highest marks and accreditation term allowed by that organization.

The facility is supported by a CAP and CLIA certified laboratory, a full digital radiology department, and an outpatient surgery center. All Springfield Clinic facilities utilize electronic medical records that are 21 CFR Part 11 compliant. The Clinical Research Department has a 3500 square foot administrative office with a dedicated Monitoring Room complete with internet access as well as office amenities. There is a secured Regulatory Room and a fully functional Laboratory for specimen processing. Investigational Product is stored in a substantially constructed room with limited access and temperature controlled/monitored environment.
