Summary: Scleroderma and Pulmonary Hypertension (PHT) - Adults

People with scleroderma and early PHT are asked to participate in a research study being conducted by North Shore-LIJ Health System.

You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:

• Are at least 18 years of age
• Have been diagnosis with scleroderma and pulmonary hypertension

You may not participate in this study if you:

• Have been previously diagnosed with PHT and treated for more than 6 months
• Have severe interstitial lung disease (a variety of diseases involving the lung tissue),
• Pulmonary thrombotic disease (blood clots in the lung),
• Heart failure (heart loses its ability to efficiently pump blood throughout the body),
• Cardiomyopathy (disease of the heart muscle),
• History of coronary artery disease(A narrowing or blockage of the coronary arteries) or
• Other cardio-pulmonary problems (Relating to the heart and lungs.)
