Summary: A Phase 2/3, Randomized, Double-blind, Placebo-controlled, Multicenter Study of Visilizumab in Subjects with Intravenous Steroid Refractory Ulcerative Colitis [291-415]

The purpose of this study is to determine if patients using the study drug visilizumab experience improvement in their ulcerative colitis symptoms. The study will also help determine how safe visilizumab is when given to patients with severe ulcerative colitis. The study drug visilizumab is considered investigational because it has not been approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Patient Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria:

You may be eligible to participate:
-if you are 18 years of age or older
-if you are diagnosed with ulcerative colitis as verified by a colonoscopy or barium enema
-if you meet additional criteria


You will not be able to participate:
-if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
-if you have HIV, Hepatitis B or Hepatitis C infection
-if your ulcerative colitis requires immediate surgery
