Our Research Center provides a dedicated research center with three full time research coordinators and necessary support staff. Our Center collaborates with the family practice residency program from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, AHEC Northeast, Arkansas State University, and Paragould Doctors' Clinic, a full time family practice clinic approximately 30 miles from our primary site.

Clinical Research Experience
St. Bernards Research Center has experience in inpatient as well as outpatient clinical trials. Our center has worked with Encorium, Quintiles, Covance, and Omnicare CRO’s. Sponsors include Merck, Wyeth, Novartis, Pfizer, BioCryst, and Alcon. Our Center has experience conducting Phase IIb-III trials in pneumonia, pediatric otitis, pediatric vaccines, flu, community acquired pneumonia, and complicated infections. St. Bernards Medical Center has areas of excellence in cardiology, oncology, women's health, infectious disease, wound healing, sleep disorders, and senior healthcare.

Facility Description
St. Bernards Medical Center is a 400+ bed acute care hospital serving Northeast Arkansas and Southeast Missouri. Our Emergency Room is one of the busiest in the state. Our Infectious Disease Department has a state-of-the-art monitoring and tracking system used nowhere else in Arkansas.
St. Bernards Research Center has an outpatient research clinic providing an excellent environment for outpatient clinical research. Our Center has ready access to convenient parking and handicapped parking. Jonesboro, AR has recently opened a public bus line, and one bus stop is located directly in front of St. Bernards Medical Center providing easy and economical transportation for study participants. Our Security Department also offers free transportation from remote parking lots to other areas of the medical center.
Our facility is served by St. Bernards Reference Laboratory, a facility available 6 days a week with extended hours to draw all necessary lab and to prepare it for packing and shipping. The laboratory personnel has certification in shipping biological substances, infectious substances and related hazards. The Research Center also has ready availability to our inpatient microbiology laboratory 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide for all culture needs.
St. Bernards Medical Center and the Research Center have fully electronic patient medical records that meet all required FDA specifications.
Memphis International Airport is approximately 90 miles away and Little Rock National Airport is approximately 150 miles away. A number of hotels and eating establishments are available in Jonesboro, and St. Bernards Medical Center offers a Guest House with comfortable accommodations at discounted rates based upon availability. The Research Center has high speed Internet access, access to electronic medical records as needed, monitoring work space and is in walking distance of several restaurants.

Patient Demographics
St. Bernards Medical Center is a 400+ bed acute care hospital serving Northeast Arkansas and Southeast Missouri. Our Emergency Room is one of the busiest in the state. The St. Bernards Wound Healing Center offers hyperbarics along with comprehensive wound management, is affiliated with National Wound Healing and has a staff certified in wound healing. A variety of specialty physicians are represented, including infectious disease, emergency medicine and general surgery. St. Bernards also has an oncology center of excellence with two full-time radiation oncologists and the Medical Center has the only dedicated radiation oncologists and the Medical Center has the only dedicated PET scanner in this area. St. Bernards has an outpatient Diabetes Clinic. St. Bernards also supports an active weight loss center.
Because of the size of our catchment area, we have several large populations of patients. Some of the largest include, heart disease, stroke, congestive heart failure, renal failure, diabetes mellitus and community acquired methicillin resistant Staph aureus. Because the area has a large elderly population, St. Bernards supports St. Bernards Village, a retirement living facility with cottage homes, independent living apartments and assisted living apartments, a Senior Health Clinic, a senior day care center, and other programs to actively reach out to our senior population.
