Located in the state capital of Baton Rouge, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center is a leading healthcare provider for the South Louisiana region providing healthcare services to 12 parishes. With 721 licensed beds, the Lake as it is colloquially known is one of the largest acute care hospitals in the state. The Lake's strong sense of mission and purpose sets it apart from other hospital organizations earning a reputation for excellence, safety and quality.
With a medical staff of nearly 1,000 physicians, we offer a comprehensive array of inpatient and outpatient services including cardiopulmonary, cath lab, oncology, physical therapy and rehabilitation, radiology and imaging, including MRI, CT Scan, and same day surgery. Our emergency room is always open and staffed with highly trained doctors and nurses prepared to handle virtually any emergency in a fast and efficient manner. Our Lady of the Lake boasts staff and programs covering more than 60 medical specialties. Innovative treatment programs and extended services address a wide variety of other health- and lifestyle-related problems and issues.
In a given year, Our Lady of the Lake treats approximately 25,000 patients in the hospital, and services about 350,000 persons through outpatient locations. The Lake also operates two nursing homes, has an affiliated cancer facility adjacent to the main hospital and operates a number of outpatient services on its campus as well as in outlying locations. Additionally, on its campus, the Lake also operates Our Lady of the Lake College.
Over 60% of hospital admissions come through the emergency department. The recent addition of a 24/7 dedicated pediatric ER has not only enhanced care for the children of the area but provided increased efficiency for adults needing emergency treatment.

In 1978 OLOL was relocated to the present six-story, 483,000 sq. ft. hospital building which houses patient beds, ancillary services, support services and administrative services on 120 acres of land approximately five miles from downtown Baton Rouge. Additions include St. Mary's Tower built in 1984 and two Medical Plaza office buildings (a seven-story building constructed in 1987 and a ten-story building constructed in 1992). The Lake is approximately 65 miles from New Orleans International Airport and approximately 15 miles from Baton Rouge Metro Airport, with emergency cases being served by the heliport landing pad adjacent to the Lake's Emergency Center.
The hospital is also embarking on an aggressive facilities master plan that will deliver on community need well into the 21st century. Over a multi-year project life, 210 patient rooms will be renovated to comply with current standards and consumer demand. Focused future construction also includes a dedicated Heart Center Tower as well as a separate Children's Hospital.
