Center Overview
Health Sciences America, LLC (HSA) is a small, independent clinical research company that does grant-based medical research and also offers local site services to Fortune 500 pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology companies, and national contract research organizations. The company's co-founders, serve respectively as medical director, operations director, and clinical director. Dr. Marsella is a physician by training and a board-certified psychiatrist who received his B.A. at Harvard, his M.D. at the University of Pennsylvania, and his residency training in psychiatry at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. Mr. Castronova and Ms. Quinn both have backgrounds in clinical research coordination. In addition to its other missions HSA is a medical research network furnishing study-procural, patient-recruitment, site-management, and research administrative services for its participating practices in south Florida. HSA serves as a site for Phase II, III, and IV multicenter, nationwide clinical trials, and also authors and implements its own grant-based medical research studies. Our areas of expertise include child and adult psychopharmacology, neurology, epilepsy medicine, pain-management, and rheumatology. While we are a for-profit partnership we maintain a commitment to non-profit medical support groups and devote considerable resources both to community support organizations and to medically-oriented foundation work in nearby academic centers like Florida Atlantic University and the University of Miami.
