Center Overview
Founded in 1984, Apex Research Institute (formerly Anaheim Heart and Research Institute) is an independent research facility utilizing services of central and base IRBs and laboratories for Phase II, III, and IV clinical trials. For inpatient trials, we have a large community hospital next door to our office. Our dedicated staff is bilingual in both English and Spanish.

Facility Description
The center has recently relocated to Santa Ana to facilitate its increasing growth and dominance. The new 3500 square foot facility can be found next to Western Medical Center, SA, located 15 minutes from John Wayne Airport and minutes away from the 5, 22, and 55 freeways.

Investigator Experience
Dr. N. Charles Morcos, M.D., Ph.D. F.A.C.C., F.A.C.P., is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology with over 20 years of private practice experience.
Dr. Eric R. Ross, M.D., Has been in private practice for over 20 years and has been involved in clinical research since 1999
Dr. John G. Duffy, M.D., Is a board certified in Geriatric and Adult Psychiatry who has been involved in clinical research in areas such as Alzheimer’s and Dementia
Dr. Paul Pin-Hung Hsieh, M.D., Is a board certified in Internal Medicine who has participated as a primary investigator on many clinical research trials.
Dr. Robert C. Schreiman, M.D., Has been in private practice since 1999 who is also Chairman of Family Practice for Western Medical Center- Santa Ana
Dr. Alvin Chang, M.D., Is board certified in Internal Medicine who has participated as an investigator on many clinical research trials in many therapeutic areas
Dr. Simon Y. Chang, M.D., Has been in private practice since 2001 and has been involved in clinical research since 2004

Patient Demographics
The center maintains a database of over 3,500 research volunteers. In addition, the center has access to databases of over 40,000 patients from two private practices. Although our database consists of a predominately Caucasian patient population, we have an affiliation with local clinics catering to the minority, namely Hispanic, patient population. With this affiliation, we have access to the large minority community of Orange County.
